Cast bar and restaurant

Cast restaurant and Delicatessen opened in January 2004 and is the culmination of the long awaited re-opening of this part of Nottingham Playhouse. The building was designed in 1963 by architect Peter Moro and is now recognised internationally, having grade 2 ** listed status. Lately the bar had suffered various refits and become a faux 'British pub' which was totally out of character with the rest of the building. The creation of Cast is something of a rebirth, and has refreshed the spirit of the original building. The minimalism of the space is now celebrated with the exposing of the structure, and paring back to the essential materials .

The furniture was required to fulfill the needs of different areas - bar, restaurant , lounge, and to combine the subtle aesthetic of the building with the practical issues of comfort and longevity. We also had to live up to the standard of the original specification - for the 1963 scheme, furniture was specifically designed for Nottingham Playhouse by Robin Day. It was a pleasure and privilege to work on this project.
