Remembering Florence Knoll
Influential and pioneering designer, Florence Knoll Bassett, died last week at the age of 101. A true pioneer, she changed the face of architecture and modern design whilst, championing the work of designers such as Isamu Noguchi, Marcel Breuer and Harry Bertoia.
However, it was a businesswoman that she truly became the face of the modern home and workplace in post war America. She paved the way for women to be regarded as more than 'just' decorators and allowed for sleek modern design to take centre stage.
Modest to the last, she was and is an iconic figure in the world of design.
